"Truth Be Told"
Hi you guys♥
Yesterday I went to an encore performance of a play titled "Truth Be Told". The play was written and directed by non other than.... MY MOMMY Sharon Freeman!!!! It was presented by the Spirit-Led Drama Ministry of Bethesda Baptist Church in Chester, Va. The first showing was at church, but this second show was held at Virginia State University (Go Trojans!) There was so many people there this time, I was so proud of my mom. The play was really good, it was about a husband and wife who are having problems in their relationships due to issues that need to be worked out with the husband. But like I said they play was GREAT. All the actors did a great job! Maybe the next performance will sell out the coliseum :) In the meantime...

The Relaxed Days....
Hi you guys ♥
These are a few pictures from my relaxed days.
I will probably be putting up more at a later date, but
these are just so you can see how long my hair was when
I was relaxing.

1/13/11 "...act like it's gum girl, cut it out"
Hi you guys♥
So I’ve been trying to go natural for what seems like to me, the longest time!! Even though I’m only 6 months post relaxer. My hair was super long when I started (a little passed waist length) but now I cut my hair, for the first time, to about shoulder length. (my mom freaked out!) I hate tangles. So one day after co-washing my hair, I cut the tangles out. Problem solved. But now lately, I feel as though my relaxed end are getting in my way. I can hear my scissors calling out to me. What to do? What to do?

Old Post...
Hi you guys ♥
Okay so I think I'm going to manually move a couple of post from my other blog onto this one. These post are usually about everyday things. Most are spur of the moment, kinda mini rants about stuff I don't understand. Disclaimer: My words are not meant to hurt or offend anyone. I'm silly, and I usually say silly stuff. Anywho, the older post will have a date in the title. In the meantime...

Waiting Game
Hi you guys ♥
Okay so this is my first post, I'm so nervous and I don't know why. As you may have already guessed this blog will be about my natural hair journey. But before I get into any of that let me tell you a little about myself... * Ahem * (que the spotlight)
Now this is a story all about how, my life got flipped turned upside down... wait, no, that's not MY story (I'm also a bit of a goof) Let's see I started getting relaxers, I wanna say around 6 years old (ugh!) When I was younger my hair was soooo thick and long that my mom didn't want to be bothered with it. So she took me to the salon where a nice lady put a chemical in my hair to make it "more manageable" (I'm looking at you relaxer!!!) Now I'm no expert at applying relaxers, but should your 1st relaxer be a virgin relaxer? Someone please respond or email me about this because I remember this lady, we'll call her Cruella De'vil for the sake of time, Miss De'vil only relaxed my roots. So I had really straight roots and the other 10-12 inches was still poofy(<--I only use technical terms in my blog people) Fast forward a couple of years, I'm still getting relaxers but now I see that they don't "take" as well in my hair. That meant more relaxers for me! My hair was still really thick, so 6-8 weeks was not an option. My mom was relaxing my hair once a month. She started doing my hair because it cost $80 to get my hair done. Even with the once a month my hair was still thick and hard to comb, so guess what... Relaxer every 2 weeks!! I thank God that I still have hair.
Now when I was about 16, I started telling my mom how I hated getting my hair done (and still do) I didn't like getting my hair relaxed because it would burn every time. I always ended up with burns on my face, I don't know how. I didn't like to have my hair curled, pressed, or blow dried. The whole salon thing just wasn't for me.
After I graduated from high school, I moved out to be closer to the university that I was attending. During this time I didn't really get relaxers, maybe 2 a year. This trend continued until i was 28 (oh wait i'm 28 now ) When I would finally get my hair done people were amazed at how long my hair was (waist length). My mom would tell people that my hair was so long because I would do anything to it. My routine was to wash my hair, blow dry, and then flat iron it. The next week I would flat iron it again, then after that it was usually a ponytail or bun.
My last relaxer was July 29th 2010 for my friend's wedding, you know what hair style I wore for that?? A BUN!! I could've keep my lil bit of new growth :) My last relaxer before that was March 2010. Anywho, I started watching YouTube videos and going to natural hair websites like CurlyNikki.com, NaturalChica.com, CollegeCurlies, too many to name. They have all helped me on my journey so far, but watching and reading got me anxious about what my natural hair would look like. So December 2010 I did a mini chop. My mom was so surprised (she told me I needed pray and should sleep on the altar lol) but she also told me that my hair looked nice. Then in January I started cutting more, and more, and more, and I Still have relaxed ends!!! By the way, since I cut it, and since I didn't pay that much attention in beauty school, I pretty much messed my hair up. It's all uneven. My fix for that, BANTU KNOTS!! They are great! Anyway as soon as I find my pictures I'll be sure to post them :) In the meantime...
